The Man from Another Century

There was no one who knew where the tall long coated man had came from. He appeared at the party as though he had just stepped out of a dream or possibly the next century. Snoop is what people began to refer to him as.

At first he did not speak, but strolled about the garden, nodding to the music. Then he saw Gatsby by the fountain.

Nice party, man, Snoop said, with a smooth low voice. "You throw these every week? "

Gatsby smiled politely. "Every Saturday, old sport. You must enjoy the fine music."

"Yeah, But it needs a little rhythm" Snoop said. He drew out of his coat something none of them had ever seen before: a weird metallic box and pressed a button. There was a heavy, slow rhythm beginning to play.

The crowd went wild. people began dancing differently, swinging to a beat that did not fit in 1922 but in the moment felt right. Gatsby looked amazed. Even he, once, ceased to worry about Daisy.

At the end of the night, Snoop gave Gatsby a cigar and told him, "do not go after what is gone, man. Just keep the vibe."

Then he went off in the morning haze, music still following him.

It is said that he went back to where he cam e an d disappeared. Other people claim that he started a jazz club in Harlem. However, everyone was in agreement that night, Gatsby's party was taken to a whole new level.

  1. Hi Aum, first off that was pretty funny how you turn this about snoop dog. With that, I like how you included vernacular and the words that would actually be said if this did happen and the spark contrast of the language between the past and the present.

  2. Bro this was actually hilarious 💀 The way you made Snoop fit into Gatsby’s world felt way too natural. “Just keep the vibe” lowkey sounded like something Gatsby needed to hear. Wild crossover but somehow it works perfectly.
